Q Getting Started Indiana Wesleyan University is a very special place, with distinct values. As a student, you are a central part of our community. Please take a moment to review the vision and mission of the university. Consider what being a world changer means to you. There is no right or wrong answer! The purpose of this assignment is simply to become familiar with the IWU vision and mission and consider what being a world changer means to you. The Christianity and Social Work Reader provides insights from social workers who are Christians regarding the integration of Christian faith and the social work profession. Since IWU is a place where integration of Christian faith with all areas of study is a foundational value, it is important for social work students to engage with this perspective. That does not mean you have to accept and embrace it, but be willing to consider and reflect upon it. Upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be able to: • Become familiar with the IWU vision and the mission of the university. • Consider what being a world changer means to you. • Apply ethical, Christ-like attitudes, values, and worldview within the context of the social work profession. ________________________________________ Resources • Website: IWU Mission and Commitments • Textbook: Christianity and Social Work: Readings in the Integration of Christian Faith and Social Work Practice • Website: IWU World Changers Hall of Fame ________________________________________ Instructions 1. Indiana Wesleyan University is a Christ-centered academic community committed to changing the world by developing students in character, scholarship, and leadership. With that being said, the recruit great students who are great people, and IWU offers great programs so that way these great students are given a large scope and foster a global mindset to be successful in their academic career and serving the churches across the world. I am a huge fan of Kirk Cameron and his sister Candace. That is why I decided to read up on Kirk Cameron. IWU has chosen Cameron as the 2012 inductee into the Indiana Wesleyan University Society of World Changers. Kirk has been known as an actor of the 80’s. He won the role of Mike Seaver on the sitcom "Growing Pains." He later became known for his starring roles in the films "Left Behind" and "Fireproof." Now 41, Cameron has impressed many with his acting career since the age of 14. He has also impressed many with his dedication to living out his love Christ in his personal lives and public.
